From “Must-Do” to “Can't-Wait-To-Do”: Fueling physical literacy with student choice. Stop fighting for student engagement and start designing programs they want to be in! This session will guide you through a framework for developing high-interest, relevant PE electives that directly address student motivation. You will learn practical strategies for identifying student passions, creating flexible units, and structuring courses that cultivate intrinsic motivation. Examples of high-engagement courses we'll discuss include: Fitness Walking; Yoga; Moving With Mentors; Lifetime Sports; and Outdoor Pursuits. This session provides best practices for curriculum advocacy, teaching you how to build a compelling case with administration to add new courses or update existing curriculum. Attendees will leave with a blueprint for transforming their traditional PE model into a student-driven system that helps students develop a love of movement and a deep-seated appreciation for valuing physical activity, ensuring their physical literacy journey continues long after they leave your school.
