Navigating the K-8 Health Education Standards
Friday November 13, 2026 2:00pm - 3:00pm CST
Missouri's long-awaited K–8 health education standards are here! (well, the DESE Website) This session breaks down what's new, what skills-based really means for your K-8 practice, and how to hit the ground running with ready-to-implement activities for every grade span (K–2, 3–5, and 6–8). Whether you're a PE teacher, Health teacher, a classroom teacher, or somewhere in between, you'll leave with real tools and fresh ideas — including cross-curricular connections, problem-based learning, and real-world scenarios that make students actually engage. We'll also tap into the collective wisdom of the room to share what's working across different implementation situations.

Show Me the TACT
Friday November 13, 2026 3:15pm - 4:15pm CST
Objectives
• Participants will be able to discuss how a concussion affects learning and activity participation for youth.
• Participants will gain knowledge about Get Schooled on Concussions as an evidence-based tool to
support any concussed student in return to learn and activities, while saving time for yourself, classroom
teachers, school nurses, administrators, and other school personnel.
• Participants will be able to identify benefits and user-friendly ease of the Teacher Acute Concussion Tool
(TACT) through a step-by-step “practice” of the TACT.
Program Narrative
Many concussed students return to PE class with symptoms that can be supported through academic and
participation suggestions that do not require an IEP or 504. By supporting concussed students in PE class, they
can be in school to learn, enjoy friendships, and manage schoolwork expectations. Get Schooled on Concussions
Teacher Acute Concussion Tool (TACT) provides evidence and clinically-based suggestions that can immediately
be implemented to support any concussed student in return to learn. This FREE, easy-to-use, and practical tool
saves you time. It is free to every school in Missouri. Attend this session to learn how to use the TACT. You will
also learn how to access one-on-one technical assistance to implement the TACT within your District or school
with the help of a Get Schooled on Concussions for Missouri Task Force member.
